Saltviken
Midbec Tapeter
The collection "Saltvik" is my seventh wallpaper collection together with Midbec Wallpapers.
"In the Saltviken collection, designer Lina Schnaufer has drawn from memories of her great-grandmother’s family home in Kolmyrarna on the west coast. The house – built sometime in the 1800s – was originally a simple dwelling with an outbuilding and a small field. Later, it became a summer house for various branches of the family during holidays and school breaks. The house is called Saltvik, named after the bay where it is located.
The Saltviken collection is inspired by Lina’s childhood stays there and the surrounding nature. Summers spent with her cousins, biking along narrow pine-needle-covered paths down to the sea, picking blueberries, and eating herring lunches in the garden arbor. A true summer dream."

We walked across the mountains. My cousins and I.
A path we had never taken before, where every step was a delicate balance between getting lost and discovering. A salty sea breeze wrapped us in the scent of seaweed. The sun warmed our backs, and in the crevices of the rocks, wild roses grew – clinging tight and bowing to the wind. The wild rose and the rosehip are forms I keep returning to, and each time I paint them, I think of that day and the feeling of being part of the landscape.

Beside the summer house Saltvik stretches a small meadow, once used for cultivation but now a sanctuary for nature’s own patterns. Here, bluebells, buttercups, and cuckooflowers dance in the wind alongside daisies and swaying grasses. The pattern Maggan is inspired by this very meadow and the jumble of flowers and life that coexist there.

Alma 48033
Alma
Alma is a trellis pattern that frames everyday life with timeless elegance – a perfect backdrop for life’s many moments. Whether it witnesses sleepy breakfasts, children dozing off on the sofa, or sandy sandals lined up in the hallway, it remains a calm and beautiful presence. The pattern comes in a wide range of colors – from touches of gold and deep blue to milky white and spring green – hues inspired by a classic, romantic, and distinctly Swedish palette.

Making a collection is a long process. It takes about a year from the first sketches until the collection is launched in stores.

Maj
In the pattern Maj, we find summer flowers alongside the season’s first blueberries. A design inspired by barefoot days, blueberry picking, and afternoon naps on the kitchen sofa – all while the lace curtain dances in the breeze from the open windows. Maj is a tribute to simplicity and to the things that linger after summer has come to an end.

On the doorsteps, the violets were planted in pots – patient, resilient, and welcoming. Their gentle scent mingled with sun-warmed grass and the promise of long summer days. The pattern Gullvie draws its inspiration from that feeling of turning the key, hearing the door creak, and taking the first steps across the threshold.

In my designs you will often find the familiar flora - but with a twist. To find the most interesting lines and expressions I often work without references. To relate only to an inner image of a certain flower or vegetation creates my own interpretation of it, that feels important to me in my work.

Beside the fence that runs around the garden grows an old lilac arbor, gnarled yet comforting. It encloses apple and pear trees. On some warm summer nights in July and August, me and my cousins we spread out mattresses and blankets in the garden. Flashlights glowing in the dark. Under the stars, the world feelt infinite, yet the garden was always a safe haven – thanks to the arbor.

Siv
The pattern Siv was first released in 2021 and quickly became a favorite. In the Saltvik collection, it comes in four new colorways that complement the other patterns. Siv is named after Lina’s grandmother’s sister and is a cozy design that evokes summer flowers and the blueberry forest.
